Why ASCEND is different

ASCEND Alliance is different from many organizations. Its sustainability efforts are in a class of their own. ASCEND Alliance is focused on a self-funding plan, where operations for communities eventually becomes self-sufficient. This allows for current projects to successfully continue and paves the way for ASCEND to focus resources on many new projects.

The 5-year graduation diagram is the foundation for developing self-sufficient communities. Upon arrival, most developing communities are in a very dependent state, with ASCEND proving the majority project funds. With proper instruction and empowering reinforcements, the recipients begin a path of self-sufficiency. With these newly acquired resources and education, the community is able to contribute and sustain half of the project expenses within the first three years.

After five years of hard work and dedication, the ultimate goal of having a self-sufficient community is achieved. Through the opportunities created, the community is financially independent and capable of sustaining ongoing projects as well as providing future growth.

“Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime”. This quote encompasses everything that ASCEND Alliance accomplishes. Instead of communities continuing to rely on international aid workers, they are able to rely on themselves.
